SLP Students Visit Hunter Army Airfield

Wed, May 06, 2015

Savannah SLP students visited Hunter Army Airfield in January 2015 for their third leadership session. This was the first SLP event hosted at a military installation.

The students were welcomed to Hunter Army Airfield by Lt. Colonel Geoffrey Whittenberg, and the Third Combat Aviation Brigade of the Third Infantry Division presented the colors. Whittenberg spoke to the students about the importance of leadership and career opportunities available to them in the military once they graduate from high school.

The students had the opportunity to participate in a simulated airlift rescue, toured helicopters and observed a military police dog demonstration. During the session, they also focused on building a personal network, goal setting and teamwork.

The leadership session at Hunter was one of four that are held throughout the academic year at different locations in the community to expose students in SLP to the many opportunities available to them.
