How do I apply to be in SLP?
Each fall SLP will conduct an assembly for ninth-grade students. in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System and Glynn County Schools with information about SLP and how to apply. The application period will last 2-3 weeks and the application will be available online at http://www.discoverslp.com
Is the SLP program in my school district?
SLP is currently in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System and Glynn County Schools in Georgia. We are currently exploring future SLP expansion opportunities.
Who is eligible to apply for SLP?
Students who are enrolled in the ninth grade in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System or Glynn County Schools are eligible to apply during application period in the fall.
If I am not a freshman, am I eligible to apply to SLP?
Students are only accepted into SLP during their freshman year of high school. Students who are not accepted into SLP or do not apply to the program are encouraged to seek other extracurricular leadership activities at their school or in their community.
As a parent, how can I be involved in SLP?
SLP invites business and community leaders to serve as mentors to students enrolled in the program. Parents are encouraged to support their students by being engaged in their child’s school work and friends.
What is the duration of SLP?
Students who are accepted into SLP are committing to be active in the program for the entire time that they are in high school. Participation at the majority of all SLP events is required to remain in the program.
